Jim Swanson

Jim, a native of northern Illinois, pursued a career in the military after earning a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Purdue University. Following his graduation, he was competitively chosen by the Air Force to undertake legal studies at the University of Illinois, where he obtained his Juris Doctorate.
Throughout his distinguished 32-year service in the Air Force, he held pivotal roles as a judge advocate, serving in various legal and military leadership capacities globally, including operational deployments to the Middle East, ultimately retiring as a brigadier general. Post-retirement, Jim assumed several high-level civilian leadership positions, notably as a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES) at the Department of Homeland Security, as general counsel and board secretary to the Military Officers Association of America, as head of the American Bar Association’s prominent Washington, DC office, and ultimately as CEO of a major charitable non-profit in Naples, FL.
Additionally, Jim is recognized for his authorship of "Shattered Destiny," a recently released and well-reviewed historical novel that presents an intriguing exploration of an alternate world where the 1981 assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan was successful. Jim's exceptional career and multifaceted contributions underscore his impact and unwavering dedication to excellence.
